Deep learning project

We are doing a new deep learning project for our humanities class. This week the work we have completed has been choosing our passion topic, writing up a proposal for our topic and now making our first blog post about our deep learning project. We choose our groups and within our groups we choose a passion to do our research on. My group consists of Sammy, Lulu, Maraea, Tereora and myself. The passion we have chosen to research is forensic science. We are going to learn about what forensic science means, how it is useful for the police and forces alike and the steps taken in forensic science that makes it efficient and effective. We will find out information about forensic science by looking in books, google and maybe even asking people who have worked in forensic science for information.

3D shapes.

In maths class we are doing geometry, as part of the geometry we are doing 3D shapes.

For the 3D shapes we  had a worksheet with shapes on it and we had to write the amount of edges and vertices, and write the shapes of the faces and the shapes name all in a slide show.

Here is the worksheet.

This is my slideshow of 3D shapes.

Research cards

My research cards this week.

My first one is about my favourite dinosaur and some facts about it.                                                                                              My second one is on a breed of dog, and information about that breed of dog..

Blog challenge

In class we have been doing a blog challenge. We have to make 3 things to post to our blog, the first thing is a super power comic, the second one is of a made up animal that we draw and the last blog challenge is of an online animal zoo.

This is my super power comic and my explanation page.

This is my made up animal that I drew and wrote about.

The last one is of my online animal zoo that I made.

(I could not get my videos to play.)

Smarty investigation

In maths class we have been doing a smarty investigation. We used PPDAC , Problem, Plan, Data, Analysis and Conclusion.

Here is the invesigation.

Problem:                                                                                                                                                                                                        I wonder what smartie colour occurs the most in each box

Plan:

  • We’ll pour out the smarties
  • We won’t eat the smarties
  • Then we will count the smarties by colour
  •  We will put the information into a table and check our results.

Data:

Table of smartie colours                                                                                                                                                                        Class data

Analysis

-We noticed that three of the colours were not in our smartie box because the line for them is on zero.

-We noticed that red and green had the same data because they are the same height in the bar.

– We noticed that the purple smarties occurred the most in our box because the line is the tallest.

Conclusion:

In conclusion to our investigation some of the packets had a varying amount of smarties with around 10-14 smarties in each box.

In conclusion to our first question the smartie colour that occurred the most from the class data and our own data was the purple smarties.

The Carrot Investigation.

In maths we have been doing a carrot investigation to find out the percentage of water in a carrot. The investigation took a few days to complete.

We made a presentation to show all of our data and the steps we used to do the investigation. We were only allowed to use 5 slides which would show all of our data. The slides were the problem, plan, data, analysis and the conclusion.

This is our presentation.

Research cards

My first research card is if I was making a theme park in NZ what would one of my rides be and what would be some food we would serve.

The second one is animal habitats.

1) Animals that live in saltwater.

Saltwater crocodiles

Sharks

Dolphins

2) Animals that live underground

Worms

Rabbits (Excluding cottontails)

3) Animals that live in forest

Deer

Hedgehogs

Moose

4) Animals that live in the desert

Rattle snake

Camel

Fennec foxes

Research cards

My first research card is on clothing over the years, and how it changed. (The order is messed up)

My second research card is which animal.

  1. The heaviest animal is the antarctic blue whale weighing 400,000 pounds!
  2. The fastest land animal is the cheetah who can run up to 64 mph the fastest sky animal is the Peregrine falcon who can go up to 55 mph!
  3.  The Blue whale is the loudest animal in the world and can be heard 160 km away!
  4. The smelliest animal in the world is the Striped polecats!
